Freddie Shanel is a Los Angeles-based standup comedian, actor, and writer.

They are currently a staff writer on Netflix’s I SUCK AT GIRLS, a show for which they have a lot of relevant experience. Before this, they served as an editor at Reductress, a satirical magazine for which they wrote over 700 articles. They’ve also written for The Harvard Lampoon, Peanut Kid (a comedy zine they co-founded), and Points in Case, among others. They were selected for the 2026 Warner Bros. Discovery Writers Program, a Sundance Episodic Intensive, and a third thing that really breaks the pattern in an unexpected way.

As a standup, Freddie was named a 2026 Just For Laughs New Face. They were also featured in the 2026 SXSW Comedy Festival and have performed in the New York Comedy Festival for the past five years. They’ve opened for comedians like Jaboukie Young-White, Cat Cohen, and Mary Beth Barone, regularly perform at venues like The Bell House, Club Cumming, and Union Hall, and have performed all over the world — from Singapore to London, LA, and New York.

All of this pales in comparison, however, to Freddie’s proudest achievement: founding Facebook.
